There is one name synonymous with luscious lingerie – and that’s Janet Reger. Glamorous daughter Aliza, who took over the business from her legendary mother, doesn’t just sell the stuff of dreams, she is determined to live it too – on the beautiful island of Mauritius. Aliza has a factory there making her celebrity undies, and has now moved to a fabulous home on the island – decamping from the UK with husband Andrew and 15-year old daughter Annoushka to make the most of heaven on earth.
“It’s a gentler, more relaxing pace of life here and we’ve rented out our home in London,” says Aliza, whose couture lingerie is beloved of the likes of Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes and was a favourite of Princess Diana.
“I leave the suits for the UK and just wear shorts and a T-shirt here. We love the lifestyle and in the evening it’s so good for the soul to sit outside and enjoy the sky and stars.
“I drive to work through the countryside and the most amazing mountain scenery. We also thought it would be a great experience for Annoushka to live abroad.”
There is also plenty of sunshine, white-sand beaches and family weekends spent outdoors with friends on the beach or a boat. Add in the fabulous five-bedroom plantation home with 50ft terrace, lush landscaped gardens and pool and there seems little not to like.
But down-to-earth Aliza is quick to point out that even paradise has its problems. She says: “It sounds idyllic and people always imagine me on a sun lounger with a long, cool drink and the latest chic lit in my hand.”
